What Should Artists Win in Bandruption’s Top Songs Contests?
Before we lock the prizes and participation requirements for Bandruption’s fan-powered Top Songs contests, we want artists and music-industry partners to tell us what would make them worth joining.

Most music contests ask artists to do the hard part first: enter, promote, mobilize their fans, and hope the prize was designed for someone like them.
We’re doing the opposite.
Bandruption is preparing upcoming People’s Top Songs contests. Before we lock the prize package, artist requirements, partner participation, or promotional structure, we want feedback from the people who would actually enter, support, share, and amplify these contests.

The survey is available in English, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish.
Artists and bands: choose the artist path.
Managers, labels, promoters, venues, festivals, media, and other music-industry organizations: choose the industry-partner path.
This is a prize-and-participation survey—not the official contest application.
A Music Contest Powered by Real Top 10 Lists
People’s Top Songs is not a one-click popularity poll.
Fans build genuine Top 10 songlists and rank the music they care about. Bandruption’s existing Top Songs engine uses those lists to calculate the public rankings.
When the contests begin, approved participating artists will compete through that same ranking system. We are not building a separate vote counter just for the contest, and sponsors will not be able to choose the winner or alter the rankings.
The goal is to create a contest where real fan preference matters—and where artists can turn that support into measurable, lasting fan relationships.

You can see the current rankings on the People’s Top Songs page.
Tell Us What Would Actually Help Your Music Career
Cash matters. But the most valuable prize is not necessarily the same for every artist.
For one artist, the biggest difference might come from studio time or professional mastering. For another, it could be equipment, software, paid promotion, video production, media coverage, a showcase opportunity, or practical support around travel.
The survey asks:
- Which prize categories would be most useful to you
- Which single prize would have the greatest effect on your next release, show, or tour
- Whether you prefer one large first prize or several meaningful awards
- What level of cash prize would make you actively promote the contest
- Which travel situations would actually be practical
- What could prevent you from entering or promoting the campaign
We are not asking artists to promote a contest that was designed without them. We are asking artists to help us design one worth promoting.

The Contest Should Matter Even When You Do Not Finish First
A music contest should not extract weeks of promotion from artists and leave everyone except the winner with nothing.
Our goal is for serious participants to leave with more than a final chart position.
That can include a stronger Bandruption artist profile, artist-specific campaign links and QR codes, reusable sharing graphics, new fan relationships, measurable campaign activity, greater visibility to industry partners, and better preparation for future Bandruption contests and showcase campaigns.
The winning prizes matter. So does building something useful for every artist who participates honestly and completes the campaign.
Your survey response will help us determine which of those benefits artists value most.
Music-Industry Partners: We Need Your View Too
Artists are only one part of a strong contest.
Managers, labels, promoters, venues, festivals, studios, media outlets, service providers, and music communities often know which opportunities artists will genuinely respond to—and which prize ideas sound impressive but create little practical value.
The industry-partner section asks about:
- The number of artists you could potentially invite
- The prizes that would most motivate artists in your network
- Brands, sponsors, studios, venues, festivals, media outlets, or services you may be able to introduce
- Support your organization might provide or help source
- Whether you would distribute the final artist participation kit
- Possible collaboration on a winner announcement, livestream, showcase, interview, or media feature
Completing the survey does not commit your organization to sponsoring or participating. It gives us the information needed to build a realistic partner and prize strategy.
Your Answers Will Change What We Build Next
The survey results will directly influence:
- The cash-versus-non-cash prize mix
- Which sponsor and prize categories we pursue first
- Whether the contest should emphasize one grand prize or several awards
- The minimum promotional requirements for participating artists
- Which travel and showcase opportunities are realistically usable
- How music-industry partners can participate
- What the artist participation kit needs to explain and provide
Nothing listed in the survey is a promise that a particular prize will appear. The purpose is to find out what artists actually value before we make those commitments.

Not an artist or music-industry partner? Send the survey to someone who is. That share can help us build a contest around what working artists actually need—not what merely looks good in a sponsor deck.
Let’s build a music contest that artists are proud to enter and fans are proud to power.
